Vision Statement
The Restorative Justice Action Team (RJAT) envisions a school community where conflict is resolved through empathy, understanding, and open dialogue. We seek to foster an environment built on mutual respect, where students feel empowered to address and transform conflicts, building stronger relationships and a culture of accountability, fairness, and peace.

Promote Restorative Practices
- Introduce and educate students, faculty, and staff on restorative justice principles and practices.
- Peer-led discussions to raise awareness of non-punitive conflict resolution.

Facilitate Peer Mediation
- Train team members in mediation techniques, including active listening, conflict de-escalation, and problem-solving.
- Offer peer-to-peer mediation services for students facing interpersonal conflicts, providing a confidential and safe space for resolution.

Build a Supportive School Culture
- Foster a school-wide culture of inclusion, empathy, and respect by advocating for restorative approaches to discipline.
- Work with school administration to implement restorative circles, peer mediation programs, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Strengthen Student Leadership
- Empower students to take leadership roles in promoting restorative justice by involving them in decision-making processes and conflict resolution.
- Encourage collaboration between students, staff, and the community to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to addressing conflicts.

Reduce Conflict & Improve Relationships
- Track and reduce instances of conflict and disciplinary actions by offering proactive mediation and open dialogue.
- Strengthen relationships within the school community by promoting restorative interventions over punitive measures.

Measure Impact
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of mediation sessions and restorative practices in reducing conflict and improving the school climate.
- Gather feedback from students, faculty, and administrators to continually improve the RJAT’s approach and strategies.

Engage the Broader Community
- Partner with parents, local organizations, and external mediators to extend restorative practices beyond the school.
- Host community-building events that promote the values of restorative justice and encourage positive engagement between students, staff, and families.
